The Italian Education System

The education system in Italy is very different to ours.  The topic of school always comes up in exams and, therefore, it is important to know a bit about how the school system works.  Look through the following presentation which I have been working on with the S4 class and feel free to post a comment at the end if you have any questions.

BIG CHANGES! GROSSI CAMBIAMENTI!

With the start of the new timetable, I’m changing the layout of the Italian blog.  Since there will now be 3 Italian classes, I thought it would be useful to have 3 different pages, so you can find your work more easily.  If you click on the appropriate link under the CLASSES heading on the right —>>>>>> you should be able to find all the help you need for each lesson.  You can also post a comment if you have a question about something, I’ll reply as quickly as I can!

I’ll use the main page (this page!) of the blog to give you general information about Italy, Italian culture and Italian news.

Keep reading!!!  Buona lettura!

S3 – i poster

The winning poster from last year’s SALT competition has now been published online: Scottish Association of Language Teachers.  You can look through a powerpoint of all of the different winners and runners up.

Start thinking about this year’s competition which we will enter in groups in June.  The theme is links – perhaps links between people or links between cultures or links between languages…  Use your imaginations and see what you come up with.

S5/6 plans – what’s coming up?

Bravi, bravi, bravi!

Well done all of you in successfully completing your speaking exams last week.  I know that several of you found it quite stressful (your teacher included!) and I’m glad that you put in the extra work and effort to do so well!

Now then, we can focus on our other favourite activities – reading, listening and writing!

Over the next couple of weeks I will be uploading a number of resources which you can use to revise for the final exam.  In the meantime, I thought that it might be useful to refresh your memories regarding the final exam, and what you should be doing to prepare.

What does the final exam consist of?

The final exam in May will consist of three papers: Reading, Listening & Writing.  You will sit all three of these on the same day.

What can I do to start revising?

The best thing to do is follow the advice and instructions that Miss Rodger and I give you in class every day regarding homework.

This will include: revising topic vocabulary, revising your A-Z verbs, preparing for past paper practice, writing tasks, listening to as much Italian as possible, getting to grips with effective dictionary use – and plenty of other fun activities!

Remember – YOU MUST come and see me if ANYTHING about the course/exam is bothering you!

Update!

Due to one or two technical hitches we haven’t been updating the blog as regularly as we’d like lately.

The good news, however, is that the hitches have been fixed and now we’re back up and running and ready to give you lots more opportunities to practise your Italian!

S3 – Andiamo a Killie!

If all goes to plan in the next couple of days we should be visiting Kilmarnock FC at Rugby Park.

We are hoping to interview Italian player Manuel Pascali.  Have your questions ready!!
